The Top Fun Five

Bloganuary writing prompt
List five things you do for fun.

I have too many hobbies for just one person, but they all don’t belong on this list.
The top five are:

  • Writing- This includes novels, letters to loved ones (or editors), and, of course, blogging.
  • Quilting – Especially baby quilts and special ones.
  • Dancing – Just because I don’t go clubbing anymore doesn’t mean that Alexa and I can’t groove at home.
  • Card games – Hand & Foot, Hearts, Oh Hell, Knock Poker, Poker, Go Fish, Uno, War, and so on.
  • Hosting Camp Grandma – Planning a week in the summer with a granddaughter and doing whatever strikes our fancy.
  • I’m looking forward to reading the responses for this BlogJanuary!

About Jodi

Bloganuary writing prompt
Write about your first name: its meaning, significance, etymology, etc.

I used to hate my name. My mom heard the name while watching the movie The Yearling. The character was a young boy. That fact did not stop my mom, oh no. She wanted her firstborn to be called Jodi. So, Jodi, I am.

People cannot spell my name. They put a “Y,” or they add an “E.” It would not be so annoying if at least my friends and family knew how it was spelled. And did I mention it is a boy’s name?

My little sister lucked out. She got a lovely feminine name because my mom saw Gone With the Wind before she was born. Her name? Melanie.

I’m grateful that Mom did not watch horror or sci-fi movies. I might have been named Godzilla.

Dare to Dream

What’s your dream job?

I often thought that writing a newspaper column would be fun. Whether it was satirical or informative (or a combination of both), it didn’t matter. I would be writing for the public eye, for money. What if I could write an advice column? Then I could write and tell people what to do!

I don’t claim to have the wisdom of Abigail Van Buren.

What I do have is a good helping of common sense. And I’m not afraid to use it.
