Thursdays Giggles & Bits

This week I am passing along a giggle my uncle John in Hawaii sent me. May you laugh out loud…

Pond

An elderly man in Florida named Steve had owned a large farm for several years.
He had a large pond in the back. It was properly shaped for swimming, so he fixed it up nicely with picnic tables, horseshoe courts and some orange and lime trees.
One evening the old farmer decided to go down to the pond and check it out as he hadn’t been there for a while.
He grabbed a five-gallon bucket to bring back some fruit. As he neared the pond he heard voices shouting and laughing with glee. As he came closer, he saw it was a bunch of young women skinny-dipping in his pond.
He made the women aware of his presence and they all went to the deep end.
One of the women shouted to him ‘we are not coming out until you leave!’
The old man frowned, ‘I didn’t come down here to watch you ladies swim naked or make you get out of the pond naked.’
Holding the bucket up he said, ‘I’m just here to feed the alligator.’
Some old men can still think fast.

Mahalo Uncle!

A Throwback Thursday Smile

Giggles & Bits are not happening this Thursday. A long story that I’m too tired to explain it all, but suffice it to say: The Quilt Faire is next week.

This afternoon, I was looking through photos to find one for an upcoming class, and I saw it!  The photo that makes me smile each time I see it, because it’s of me with my 3-year old granddaughter making Christmas cookies.  Mixing stuff and breaking eggs were her favorite things, until it was time to use the cookie cutters. Half of our fun was getting to wear our matching aprons, and watching each other to make sure the other one was not sneaking nibbles of dough.

making cookies

And don’t forget the VHS tape with all the good Christmas Specials – watching them while decorating cookies became a tradition that began in the 80’s.  I recorded the tape while making Christmas cookies with my daughter. She and I love it even more now, as we watch her girls enjoy it. They can’t understand why we laugh so hard when the commercials come on. 80’s commercials are really bizarre!

Both of us have grown since the day this photo was taken. She is now in Middle School and does not think every boy has cooties. Despite what her dad tells her.

I am retired now, and writing this blog, making quilts and trying to finish my novel.

I am really, really tired now.

Thursday’s Giggles & Bits

It used to be tidbits & Giggles on Thursdays.  Then I accidentally typed Giggles & Bits and decided to keep it that way. It just sounds sillier, reminding me of Kibbles & Bits. Remember those commercials?

Speaking of silliness…  EggLove

I have not been feeling silly, for a while now. In fact, I should do a search for a silly blog, so I could go there and cheer up a bit. It being a Thursday and all. Allrighty then!

Google only turned up 13,400,000 results. Sigh. Now I have to make a decision. I hate that, so I clicked on the first result in the list, which took me to another list! And there I saw a domain that made me think of my dad, who was a very funny guy, so I checked it out. “shitmydadsays”  This site by “Justin” is just that – quotes from his dad’s tweets. They are funny and I could hear my dad saying most of them, but without the constant foul language and F-Bombs.  Definitely not a link to share with kids!

Because every body’s vision of silly & fun are different – here’s a list of silly places out there.  I don’t have time to review them for you because the 49ers last pre-season game is in 10 minutes!

Hey, I just realized something. I feel pretty good now. Not silly though. 49er games are serious, man.  🙂
