And the Nominees Are…

Can you tell I have a thing for the Oscars?

It’s been a good month for my little blog. First the Liebster Award nomination, and a couple of days after that, I was nominated for the Versatile Blogger Award. :-).  versatileblogger111 I  admit that my head swelled a bit, causing my brain to stop having any post ideas at all. Go figure.

Matt, author of The Matticus Kingdom, kindly nominated Not Pretending  for this award. Please visit his kingdom, you will be happy you did!

Thank you, Matt, for not only the nomination, but for considering my posts versatile.

All this time I believed I was a flibbertigibbet*.  And what do ya know, I was just being versatile. 😉   Upon receiving this award there are rules to follow (there’s always a “but”…)

Versatile Blogger Rules

  • Display the Award Certificate on your website
  • Announce your win with a post and link to whoever presented your award
  • Present 15 10 awards to deserving bloggers
  • Drop them a comment to tip them off after you’ve linked them in the post
  • Post 7 interesting things about yourself.

My nominations for deserving & versatile blogs go to:

  1. My Meandering Trail   This gal is going to be hiking the Appalachian Trail this year and taking her readers along with her!
  2. Dorky Deb  She’s more fun than dorky!
  3. Aavicenna  This blog introduces you to the world of fragrance. The way perfumes are described you can almost smell them. The photography is awesome.  Very Classy.
  4. Life in General  A great place to find life stories, humor, photos and inspiration. A truly versatile blog!
  5. Charlotte’s Web  A unique and somewhat spooky site. Beware if you have arachnophobia :-0
  6. Ramblings of a Quickwit   She is funny and real. I guess that makes her real funny! (Please forgive me, I’m out of sorts today from dealing with medical insurance and the IRS. And I didn’t even speak to a human)
  7. Whatimeant2say   What she does say is hysterical. The adventures of Wonderbutt are fun too.
  8. notquiteold  She is gracefully aging – with resistance. She draws too.
  9. HagFest  A blog celebrating women, that has posts about humor, books, politics, religion, writing, family – you name it. Talk about versatile.
  10. Maternity Peeve  A writer, film critic, designer, gardener and teacher, now a stay at home mom, shares her adventures in her clever blog.

Congratulations Everyone!

7  Wacky (Interesting) Things About Myself:

  1. When in grade-school, I would walk home talking to myself, sometimes making up songs and skipping. It was a long 2-mile walk. (No snow – just weirdos wanting to give me rides)
  2. My little sister excelled at being a pain-in-my-butt ever since she was born. She died last year, but even that hasn’t stopped her.
  3. When I was 12, I wanted to be a stand-up comic. Like Phyllis Diller and Joan Rivers were at the time. When I told my parents, they laughed at me, and rolled their eyes.
  4. My right leg is longer than my left. Most people don’t notice, until I mention it. (Oops!)
  5. My favorite outfit is flannel pajamas and penguin slippers
  6. I have a crush on Dr. Spencer Reid from Criminal Minds
  7. I spend more time reading blog posts than writing them.

Now I have fulfilled my obligations for this award. I can get back to the 38 things I’ve put off  to do this  😉

*FYI – if your family never met Rednecks or mountain folk: “Flibbertigibbet (flibər tē jib′it) noun referring to a person who is  irresponsible &  flighty. A silly, scatterbrained, or garrulous person.”

Your welcome  🙂

Here Comes February (already??)

February 1st is National Wear Red Day.

I miss this every year because I don’t remember until I switch my calendar over to February, and by then I’m already dressed and at work. I hate it when things fall on the first day of the month.  Thank goodness Groundhog’s Day is on the 2nd. I really hate to miss that one.
This is why I am trying to spread the word now. So people can “get their red on” and support the awareness campaign about heart disease in women. And since we are on the topic of February, Actually I am discussing the topic and you are reading it – which is really cool!  But I digress…

Aside from the 1st & 2nd, other important observances for February are:

Other things in February you should know about:

Feb 11th – 17th: National Random Acts of Kindness Week.

Feb 14th: National Condom Awareness Day. Are we supposed to send out condoms instead of romantic heart covered cards & candy now?   I feel a rant coming on…

Feb 22nd: World Thinking Day. (Girl Scouts)

Feb 24th – Mar 2nd: National Eating Disorder Awareness Week.

OK, so now you know to wear red on Friday, February 1st. My mission is accomplished 🙂

The Dirty Birds Aren’t Flying (to the Super Bowl)

Championship Win

Remember when I told you a couple of weeks ago how it was going to go down?  Well,  Hot Damn!!  I was right.  Those 49ers can really make a comeback. They scared me in the first half.  Actually it was the Falcons that scared me – they seemed invincible. Don’t even get me started about that Julio Jones fellow.

Although officially named “Super Bowl XLVII”, the game will be called the “Har-Bowl”.  In case you don’t follow football (WHAT!?), the 49ers coach and the Ravens coach are brothers. Their last name is Harbaugh. This cracks me up for some reason.

Which team will mom and pop Harbaugh root for this year?  That is what I am wanting to know. 😉
