Sunday Reflections

April is National Poetry Month & I plan to write some. The following is not one of them, however.
It was written by Judge Roy Moore in Alabama, after being sued by the ACLU for displaying the Ten Commandments in his courtroom. I feel it should be read again this second Sunday in April.

America the Beautiful, or so you used to be.
Land of the Pilgrims’ pride; I’m glad they’ll never see.

Babies piled in dumpsters, Abortion on demand,
Oh, sweet land of liberty, your house is on the sand.

Our children wander aimlessly poisoned by cocaine,
Choosing to indulge their lusts, when God has said abstain.

From sea to shining sea, our Nation turns away
From the teaching of God’s love and a need to always pray.

So many worldly preachers tell lies about our Rock,
Saying God is going broke so they can fleece the flock.

We’ve kept God in our temples, how callous we have grown.
When earth is but His footstool, and Heaven is His throne.

We’ve voted in a government that’s rotting at the core,
Appointing Godless Judges who throw reason out the door,

Too soft to place a killer in a well deserved tomb,
But brave enough to kill a baby before he leaves the womb.

You think that God’s not angry, that our land’s a moral slum?
How much longer will He wait before His judgment comes?

How are we to face our God, from Whom we cannot hide?
What then is left for us to do, but stem this evil tide?

If we who are His children, will humbly turn and pray;
Seek His holy face and mend our evil way:
Then God will hear from Heaven and forgive us of our sins,
He’ll heal our sickly land and those who live within.

But, America the Beautiful, if you don’t, then you will see,
A sad but Holy God withdraw His hand from Thee.

– Judge Roy Moore

As I mentioned, this is not the way I would have written the Judge’s message. But I sure see where he is coming from.

I Have The Power (Sorry, He-Man…)

DP: You have the power to enact a single law. What would it be?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~  Evil Poster
I hear it said all the time: “There’s no law against the ignorant”. Well, now there is – sort of.
The Law:  ALL parents must have a license to raise children. **
Mandatory Requirements for License:
  • Well-rounded Common Sense
  • Approval from interviews with State Officials and licensed parents.
  • Also interviewed: Parents, Grandparents, siblings, neighbors of applicant(s)
  • Applicant(s) must pass a Comprehensive Parent Training Course
  • Applicant(s) must pass a State Test based on Parent Training, General Knowledge.
  • Applicant(s) must test negative on ALL random drug tests.
The Health and Child Welfare Departments, will oversee State Testing and will also conduct personal interviews of each applicant.
Each State may add requirements, but shall NOT alter any of the mandatory requirements.
This is a Zero Tolerance law.
In the case of parents who already have children – they are interviewed by a Child Protective Service Representative AND a Board Certified Psychologist. Then, if accepted, they need to obtain a license After The Fact (ATF)
In the case of an accidental, or unwanted, pregnancy – the parents have 2 options. Give the baby up for adoption to licensed parents – OR – complete the requirements for licensing before the baby is born.
In the case of a divorce and parent establishes a new relationship, this person must obtain, or already have, a license.
** It is unfortunate that such a law has to be written and enforced because of the alarming rate of abuse from a child’s own family. This law was pushed through the House and the Senate to protect the innocent children in our country.
This Could Be News…
Has Political Correctness gone too far?
“Yes!”, exclaims Mayor Eldon Sidney, “and the people of this town have decided to do something about it.”
The residents of  Nemo, CA decided at their monthly town meeting on Friday, to put together a local law (Measure” N”) that would be added to the County Election ballot and voted on during the Primary Election, Tuesday, June 5th, 2012.
If passed, Measure “N” will exempt the town of  Nemo from using P.C. terminology.  They will be free to talk  like they used to.
“You know, like back when this country had free-speech”, said Councilman Hart. “We have more rules, laws, and taxes forced on us now by our own Government than the English oppressed us with back in the 1770’s.”
Nemo’s oldest resident at 89-years, Hattie May Johnson, laughed when asked how she felt about Measure N.  “I’ve been talking since the age of two and nobody’s going to be able to change how I do it now. I don’t cuss or take the Lord’s name in vain, which is more than those politicians can say!”  Hattie went on to explain,  “If we say someone is ‘height challenged’, everyone has to think about that a minute to translate the meaning. Horse feathers! Short means short! I’m short. Are you ashamed of being short? If you say I’m ‘height challenged’ I am still short. It don’t change that fact one bit!”
She’s got a point there. Maybe there should be a law about political correctness – requiring politicians to behave correctly...
