¿Se Habla?

Topic #84: If you could master any skill instantly, what would it be? The first thing I thought of is something I’ve been wanting to do, but haven’t had the time to pursue.

Se Habla

I want to speak, read, and write in Spanish. This would be a handy skill to have since I live in California and there are many people here that speak Spanish fluently. I want to communicate. I want to know what they are talking about, and if it involves me in any way.

Occasionally I dream that I speak and understand  Spanish. I even think to myself in the dream,  “Hey! I can speak Spanish!” Is this weird? Do other people dream in foreign languages from time to time? I think I know the answer to those questions already…

I remember a lot of words and phrases from my 7th grade Spanish class. I know the pronunciation fairly well. When I habla to a Spanish-speaking person they understand me. But knowing a tiny amount of the language is useless because  I can’t understand what they say back. And that could be critical.

I am also tired of pressing “1” all the time.

If Crocheting Was Exercise, I Would Be Fit

.

Novelty YarnPackages of Yarn I would be very fit. And I could justify my yarn addiction to my husband who really loves it when I’m fit.

Instead of working out in a gym, I sit comfortably at home while I work out.  Even catch up on my soaps. My best girlfriend, who is also a yarn addict, sometimes comes over on the weekend and we chat while we work out.  Life is good all around.

Working with yarn is therapy for me, it helps me stay mentally fit. So far knitting has not replaced my meds, but I haven’t killed anyone, and many babies and friends have nice hand-made blankets, hats and scarves.

I actually get a rush when I’m in the yarn section at Micheal’s. Wal-Mart has a good selection of yarn too. [Don’t waste your time looking in Richards, Target and CVS. They don’t carry any.]

When I gathered up my “left-overs” from past yarn projects over the years, I filled up two huge plastic comforter protectors. I took them down to my mom’s with me to keep me sane. I made 5 blankets and my sister made 2. There is half a bag remaining. I am so proud that I controlled myself and only bought yarn twice to piece together 2 granny square quilts. I think I have 2 more baby blankets worth of yarn left. I’ll keep you posted!

BTW If you have easy patterns (beginner level) for cool baby stuff, please share! I am pretty sick of the ones I’ve been using.

Thanks!  😉

If I Could Live Anywhere

Caribbean Beach

Topic #81 – finish an old draft. OK, I will finish Topic #69: “If you could work from anywhere, where would you live?”

That’s easy! Grenada.

That island has the best beaches and tropical weather in the South Caribbean. My house would be on a secluded beach, I don’t remember it’s name, but it was far away from tourists and as perfect as a post card. Of course my little beach house is equipped with 5G wireless Internet service so I can telecommute, post blogs and do serious research for my novel(s).

Sigh…  It could happen if I hit the Mega Million Jackpot. I would buy my little beach house and furnish it all tropical-but-girly. I would sunbathe in the early morning while I drank my coffee and read the newspaper. After breakfast I would write in my comfy office with the ocean view.

If I don’t hit the Jackpot, I will have to save up for a vacation in Grenada and spend the rest of my life in the mountains with the man of my dreams.

I can live with that.
