Diary of a Nicotine Addict: Day 4

I think I gained 10 pounds this weekend. I really wanted to sneak my birthday cake into my room and eat the thing by myself. There is only a large piece left and I want to hide it from my hubby before I go off to Curves. Yes – I know it’s ridiculous, and I don’t care.

The withdrawal symptoms have increased. What’s up with that? I am wearing the patch, so my body is getting Nicotine, from a new delivery system. The Bitch (my addiction, if you are joining this diary recently), demands the drug be administered in heavy doses that immediately reach the bloodstream. She is not liking this slow steady method and being The Bitch she is,  my day has been shitty.

I did manage to get a couple of things accomplished at work today. Then I spent the last 3 hours cleaning my office. My bookshelves have been a disaster and I was not going to tolerate it anymore. I know that tomorrow I will not remember why I put this here and the other over there. The important thing is I have gotten rid of some irrelevant papers and the dust bunnies.

Drug Bottles Tomorrow will be interesting. I have only 1/2 dose left of Welbutrin (a drug prescribed for helping your mood while you fight your addictions, among other things). My doctor was on vacation and it did not get refilled today. I forgot to order the refill on time. That is so unlike me, since I’m pretty anal about my refills. I bet The Bitch had something to do with this.

I am tired, grumpy, and have had a headache all day. And that last piece of birthday cake? I told him I wanted it for myself, but hubby had the audacity to eat half of it right after dinner. I knew I should have hidden it from the bum….

Ranting for Health

Topic #98: Write a rant about the pointlessness of ranting.

WHAT???

Sorry, but ranting not only HAS A POINT, but it’s good for you. [Scott’s turn to say WHAT???  here]  I’m not talking about bitching or whining, which are often pointless, but the true & righteous ranting that comes from your soul.

Ranting is not for wishy-washy types. Rants are passionate expressions of the ranter’s response to frustration, anger, adversity, fear, jealousies – caused by something or someone else.  We don’t rant about positive emotions, we “proclaim” and “announce” those things. Rants are about the darker side of life. Not that a good rant is depressing. Often the best rants are humorous ones because most of us can relate to them.

Dennis Miller
Dennis Miller makes ranting an art form

How are rants healthy? They benefit both the ranter and the rantee. The ranter vents off steam, decreasing stress.  By listening and relating, the rantee is a participant – a co-ranter, if you will. They rant vicariously and laugh at the things that annoy them. This causes those happy endorphins to appear.

Everyone knows that Laughter is the Best Medicine. So rant away! Rant to your friends, your family, readers of your blog. Go ahead – make someones day.  🙂

If I Had My Own Reality TV Show

I hate TV Reality Shows.

ALL of them are dumb, and some dumber than most. I would have to be threatened with bodily harm to write/produce one. But for the sake of this topic let’s pretend that I have been, and so I am.

My show would be the reality show that reality show haters will watch. After all, we haters need shows too.

Reality TV is Dumb, is a game show where the Host shows the Panel of Judges (also the audience) clips from last weeks reality TV shows. A short snip-it of each show – at it’s dumbest moment.  The Panel, comprised of comedians and 1 lucky audience member, discuss the various shows (makes fun of them mostly). Then there is a vote to select which show is the most annoying and ridiculous of them all. That show is voted off and will not be part of my show anymore.

My dream cast would be:

Host:  Robin Williams

Panelist #1: Lily Tomlin

Panelist #2: Ron White

Panelist #3: Jeff Dunham & Achmed

Panelist #4:  Carrot Top

Guest Panelist: audience member who was chosen from raffle ticket drawing.

I can’t decide if the raffle tickets are gratis or if they are sold for $1.00 and proceeds donated to the winner’s cause of choice.

OK. I have done this. Reality TV has one more show. This brings the total  to 670. Not only do I find that scary, but it’s ridiculous!

Don’t believe me? See the list for yourself…
