And The Nominees (For The Liebster Award) Are…

liebster2_thumb  Willow Scottling, author of Willow’s Corner, nominated me for the Liebster Award on Jan 16th, 2014. It has taken me a long time to accept the award, but this does not reflect any lack of gratitude on my part.   Thank you, Willow, for this honor  🙂

If  nominated, and you choose to accept my nomination of your blog and continue with the Liebster award process – here are the rules:

  1. Thank the person who nominated you, and post a link to their blog on your blog.
  2. Display the award on your blog — by including it in your post and/or displaying it using a “widget” or a “gadget”. (Note that the best way to do this is to save the image to your own computer and then upload it to your blog post.)
  3. Answer eleven (11) questions about yourself, these will be provided to you by the person who nominated you.
  4. Provide eleven (11) random facts about yourself.
  5. Nominate 5 – 11 blogs that you feel deserve the award, who have a less than 1000 followers. (Note that you can always ask the blog owner this since not all blogs display a widget that lets the readers know this information!)
  6. Create a new list of questions for the bloggers you nominate to answer.
  7. List these rules in your post (You can copy and paste from here.) Once you have written and published it, you then have to:
  8. Inform the people/blogs that you nominated that you nominated for the Liebster award and give a link for them to your post so that they can learn about it.

This Must Be How Jennifer Garner Feels…

GARNER
Gets Nominated A Lot

Today I received nominations for 5, that’s FIVE, awards. I never knew that  was possible -for Jennifer Garner, yes. Not for insane hacks with blogs.  A very funny gal, (and my new best friend), mushroomsup, of Funny for Nothing, nominated my humble blog, Not Pretending (to be sane), for all these awards.

I am not worthy. But, if you insist…

The esteemed Versatile Blogger & Liebster Award I am familiar with. For the other 3 awards: Most Creative Blogger Award, the Reader Appreciation Award and the Semper Fidelis, this is my first nomination. To say I’m flattered would be down-playing things a bunch.

Blogging All Night Long
Got Nominated 5 Times in 1 Day

These are the questions, asked by mushroomsup, for me to answer upon acceptance. (She said they were optional, but I’ll be a kiss up good sport)  😉

1. If you had to think of another name for your blog, what would it be? It would take me days to think of something “catchy”. It took a week to come up with the first one!

2. What’s your favourite quote/ saying? It is better to light a candle than to curse the darkness
– Chinese Proverb

3. What’s the worst joke you’ve made/ heard? The worst, if you can stomach calling them jokes even, are Dead Baby Jokes. I don’t repeat them.

4. What’s your favourite television show? That varies, but lately I’m loving Ray Donovan (Showtime). I suspect that I am disturbingly vengeful and violent, to enjoy this show. Hopefully, it’s just that I have always had the hots for Liev Schreiber and I cannot stand Jon Voight‎.

5. Describe yourself in one word.  Ha!

6. Do you have an object that you consider to be your lucky charm? No. I have lucky underwear.

7. Which type of chocolate is best: white, milk or dark?  There is no best. There is only chocolate.

8. What’s the best non-fiction book you’ve read? “On Writing” by Stephen King.

9. What’s your favourite word?  Shenanigans.

10. Are you philosophical person?  I’m more of a spiritual person.

11. What’s the capital of Greenland?  Nuuk. And yes, I had to Google it  😉

OMG! People Are Actually Reading My Blog

LiebsterAward-2

I’m very excited to be nominated for my 2nd Liebster Blog award!

I was nominated for this award by Shimmering In The Dark, (I’m sorry I don’t know her name, but she’s a cool Canadian gal studying Photography)

Please visit her blog via the link above 😉

You are probably thinking, what is this? It is an award for bloggers who are nominated by others as their favorite blogs. These blogs must have less than 200 followers and it comes with a number of rules:

  • Post eleven facts about yourself
  • Answer the questions posed by your nominator
  • Pass the award on to eleven new recipients
  • Pose eleven new questions to your bloggers

Post a copy of the badge on your blog (type “Liebster Award” into Google images; you’ll find plenty to choose from). Notify nominees and include links to the originating blog, as well as the new recipients. Whew!!!

Stuff about Me

1. I have started 5 novels and finished none. Was thinking about tossing those and starting a 6th one, but after discussing this with Aunt Kitty (and cousin Dawn), decided to continue one of the original 5 I started during NaNoWriMo last November. You just don’t question wisdom from Aunt Kitty.

2. Every time I go to the San Bernardino, CA area – it snows. Even in March.

3. Lately, I spend more time reading blog posts than writing them. Such talent out there!

4. I’m getting sick of crocheting frogs.

5. I need a good nap. Strange beds and relatives make me tired.

6. I can’t wait until football season starts in August. Speaking of, I’m pissed that the 49ers fired David Akers. He should go to Kansas City with Alex Smith. Don’t get me started about that.

7. I have a yarn addiction. I only knit and crochet so I can buy more.

8. I joined a quilters guild, so now I am hoarding fabric too.

9. I miss the people I used to work with – a lot.

10. I tend to read thrillers and mysteries. And stuff my daughter recommends because she got her taste in the macabre from her mother.

11. Oh, and my granddaughters think I’m the best grandma ever 🙂

Questions asked by my nominator:

1. Does your name mean anything? My mom liked the name of the little boy in The Yearling, so I became Jodi. At least she spelled it the girl’s way.

2. White chocolate or dark chocolate? Both.  If I absolutely had to choose – white!!

3. What was your favorite school subject? English

4. Do you have a secret celebrity crush? if so, who?  Matthew Gray Gubler. I love his character, Dr. Spencer Reid (Criminal Minds). Sigh…

5. Cats or dogs?  DOG’s. Always.

6. A place you’ve always wanted to go to?  Tiffany’s

7. Has a movie ever made you cry? If so, which movie? This would be easier to answer if it was a movie I didn’t cry at. At the end of Forest Gump, when he’s talking to Jenny’s grave, I balled like a baby.

8. What is your dream date place?  Picnic blanket, on a tropical (a.k.a. warm) beach, at sunset.

9. Do you have any regrets? Yep.

10. Do you have a best friend you can tell anything to? Yes, Thank God I have a few. Maggie and Cindy have kept me out of the booby-hatch on many occasions. We have been best friends since we were kids.

11. How do you feel about turtles? I had a pet turtle as a kid at my Grandma’s house (mom did not “do” reptiles and considered turtles were in the same family). My turtle (cannot remember his name) was fun to watch, but I yearned for a puppy I could cuddle.

OK!  That’s enough about me.  Now for the fun part!  Click on their blogs name and go see their talents for yourself  😉
